Drop

How to Factor Bat Drop
Baseball bats are available in several weight drops. The way that a bat drop is factored is simple: it is the difference between the length of the bat in inches and the weight of the bat in ounces. For example, if a bat weighs 20 ounces, and is 30 inches long, the drop weight of the bat would be -10.
Most Common Bat Drops
There are countless bat drops to choose from, but some of the most common baseball drops are a drop 5 bat, a drop 8 bat, a drop 10 bat, and a drop 12 bat. For the most part, the more competitive leagues and levels of players will choose a bat with a lower drop, meaning that the bat feels heavier.
Bat Drop Rules
Bat drop is more than just a preference, it’s actually a rule that many leagues have identified for players to be permitted to play. To ensure that you’re selecting the right bat, it’s best to go back and look at what your league requires before ordering your new bat.
